During the weekend of October 19-20, Medina de Pomar will return to the Renaissance from the hand of Emperor Charles V. This is the twentieth time that this organizes a reception to commemorate the one he lived in 1556, on his trip towards the Monastery of Yuste.
The City of Medina de Pomar has developed a program of activities that highlights a Renaissance market, which will open its doors on Saturday from 12:00 to 23:00 hours; and will continue on Sunday, also from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. The market will be enlivened with parades in charge of minstrels that will conduct rounds and workshops for the little ones, among which the Bread Workshop that will take place both mornings in Plazuela del Corral stands out.
On Saturday afternoon, after the announcement of the arrival to the town by the preacher, the parade of the Court of Castile will be held until the Plaza Somovilla; and there will also be a place for the historical recreation of an inquisitive judgement in the Castile of 16th century, in addition to music, fire, pyrotechnics and juggling of the Inquereé group in the Plazuela del Corral.
On Sunday, after 11.00, a Renaissance mass will take place and then the court of Castile, dressed in his best clothes, will receive the emperor in a large parade that will begin in the Plaza Mayor. Los Condestables, dance groups from the Las Merindades region, jesters, dulzaineros, drums, etc., will be part of the entourage that will travel the streets of Medina. As a climax, Carlos V will speak to the people and then the brotherhood meal will take place at the Municipal Sports Center.
